Things are changing in my world. At the end of 2023, my Missus and I purchased our 1st, and hopefully last, home here in the Land of Corn and Soybeans. It’s not a huge house, but it is enough room for our little family. It has been hectic at times with the cleaning, packing, and unpacking of years’ worth of stuff, but it’s nothing that I’ve not encountered before.

To some, change can be difficult. I am lucky, change does not bother me. In fact, I look at it as a new adventure in my life. A new chapter to write my tale for good or ill. I am expressly hoping for the former, and not the latter but come what may I will be there telling my story.

As far as preparing goes, I will have more room for the necessary preparations. In fact, we have plans for a rain catchment system, which is something that we were not allowed to do in an apartment due to the landlord’s regulations. My communications ability will get a major upgrade as I will be able to have my antennas up year ‘round, as opposed to having to string them up for short durations, then bring them down when I was finished “playing radio”. Again, this was due to limitations from the landlord.

Having our own home brings about a bit of freedom to prepare properly, and the space for those preps. We are planning accordingly, and setting aside space for our preps, and gaining new skills, such as canning our own food supplies. Rainwater catchment, which is allowed here and is encouraged by the local government! Making the most important prep available to my family. There is space enough to grow our own vegetables, therefore cutting out grocery bill down a bit. This is going to be a new chapter in the life of Your Radio Prepper and I will document it all as it happens, so stay with me as we travel this road together.

This new chapter looks to be a great start to the new year! I hope with all my heart that you, Dear Reader will have a great year, and that you adventure is filled with positivity.

This is K0MRD your Radio Prepper signing off for now 73!

  1. I cannot imagine trying to prep in an apartment due to the space and regulation limitations. I’m happy for you and K, congrats! 💞

    1. Yeah it is a bit trying to prep in an apartment, but we made due for 14 years. But a new chapter is starting. Thanks for visiting!
